My story

Firstly, we wish to thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving site.

During our annual Sports Weekend in December our CO, Lt Col Gibson, suggested a charity swim across the Channel. Seven months of early mornings later and we have a team of seven ready to tackle the challenges of waves, cold, fatigue, jellyfish and, ahem, sewage. Having overcome the icy waters of Lake Bala and the violent torrents of Bude, the somewhat disturbed swimmers are as enthusiastic as ever to take to the water...

The charity we have chosen to raise money for are The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund. This is, perhaps, a charity that you are not familiar with and so we encourage you to visit their website www.mdirf.co.uk to discover their continuing good work. The fund was set up in memory of Ian Olding, who died whilst competing on 26th April 2009. We hope you will join us in raising £1500 for their growing cause, which we feel is achievable and hope to surpass. Any donations you wish to make to our goal are gratefully received.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please, dig deep and we look forward to seeing you soon.

With great thanks,

Laura-Beth Pilkington, Alice Asbury, Laura Glasgow, Danielle Ash, Joe Carvill, Bethan Griffiths, Kat France
