When: May 28th, 1pm Where: Worcester Racecourse What: 200Mile-a-thon

It's that time of year again folks. 2009 saw 10 hours of drumming in Drum-a-thon, 2010 saw us beaming for joy in our 10 hour Soundbeam-a-thon and now for this years challenge.....Drum roll please....We aim to have centre users, staff, families and volunteers collectively try to cover over 200 miles in one day!

The Worcester Snoezelen is a registered charity and every year we have a large deficit of funds that needs to be generated through grants and donations. This year we have £70,000 to find! YIKES! The funds raised from this event will be put toward our expanding arts service, dance and sports.

Our fundraising event in May is an opportunity for the users of the Worcester Snoezelen centre to get involved with raising funds. At Snoezelen we emphasise ability rather than disability. As with all of our activities we aim to make the event inclusive and accessible to all levels of ability. This means some people may be sponsored to take part in the event for 10 minutes only, because that 10 minutes might be equivalent to your 10 hours! We celebrate diversity and this sort of ecclectic fundraising has made our May sponsored events a big hit in the past.

So far the day is panning out like this: Snoezelen supporter Mark, will be setting off with his entourage of dedicated volunteer walkers from the Worcester Snoezelen centre. After having waved them off we can all go back to bed until a much more sensible time of day. zzzzzzzzzzz Snoezelen users and volunteers will then congregate at Pitchcroft playing fields in Worcester, at around 1pm. We'll be wearing brightly coloured caps so you won't be able to miss us as we embark on our own sponsored fundraising efforts.

Children and adults who have varying disabilities will be making the effort to do their bit. If you would like to encourage our determined crew then please dig deep and donate today. Perhaps you could sponsor someone to pogo, skate board or sit in a shopping trolley around the course! We're open to suggestions.....
