The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
As current secondees working out in Xi'an China, we have all been close to and experienced the terrible earthquake that happened on Monday 12th May, which has reported close to 15,000 deaths with the figure still rising.
Fortunately for us, we have not been affected too much, but within 300miles from where we work there are still many people suffering and much urgent help is still required to find survivors, treat the injured and rebuild lives.
This Saturday 17th May 2008, 3 XRA Rolls-Royce secondees will be taking part in various lengthed races on the Beijing Great Wall. Dave Thomas will be taking part in the half marathon, Sylvia Tang the 10K race and Michael Mc Aleer the Full Marathon. This is an extremely challenging course, and most of it will be undulating.
We'd like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to sponsor us kindly and donate to the British Red Cross for this event in aid of the recent China Earthquake. Being so close to the disaster is something that has touched us recently.
Good Luck Sylvai and all. Donation by Alistair Donaldson
