Did you know that UKSA is a charity dedicated to changing lives through maritime activities? Last year we helped 452 deserving young people who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to change their lives, by providing them with training for a maritime career.
With charitable donations we can provide career training to those that would love to make a career in the yachting industry but are unable to finance themselves.
Some of the courses we provide are:
MCA STCW 95
12 Week Commercial Yachtmaster
23 Week Ocean Graduate
MCA
3 year Cadetship
Essential Marine Hospitality
Watersports Instructor
Case study
Aidan Gerry
Aidan is currently studying on UKSA’s Cadetship programme with the aim of gaining his Officer of the Watch 3000. Trinity House has provided the funds for Aidan to complete this course which he could not have done otherwise. He is currently on a work placement as Deckhand on a 72m MY.
Josh Stickland
Josh came to UKSA with donations from the Princes Trust. He was enrolled on a 12 week Watersports Instructor course and was then employed at UKSA for 2 seasons, helping us in our mission to introduce over 5000 young people each year to watersports. Josh is now looking at completing several yachting courses with the intention of joining the superyacht industry this coming winter.
How you can help:
UKSA operate on a simple principal. Those who can afford to pay, pay. Those who cannot afford to pay, can apply for financial assistance. Donations large and small to our career training fund can make all the difference to a young person looking to better themselves and make a success of a career in the yachting and watersports industry. Please consider making a donation and help us change more lives.
£250 could pay for someone to take their RYA Powerboat Level 2
£520 would pay for someone to complete their MCA Approved Engine Certificate
£820 would pay for someone to complete their MCA STCW 95
£1,000 would pay 25% towards our Crew Training course
If you would like to make a donation to our career training fund please do so by calling Debbie on +44 (0) 1983 203011 or click on 'Donate now'
