I am running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 13th September. I am raising money for a charity called The Elifar Foundation.

The Elifar Foundation is a charity run almost entirely by volunteers. It aims to help improve the quality of life mainly of profoundly disabled children and young adults, whether living at home or in residential care. The name ELIFAR stands for Every Life Is For A Reason, a philosophy which serves to remind us all that everyone deserves to enjoy the minimum standards of comfort and happiness in life, though for those with severe disability these are often not easily achieved. The financial, physical and emotional cost to them and their families is enormous and any help we can give will often be life changing, and always gratefully received.

There are so many aspects of daily life that we take for granted, such as sitting comfortably, getting around, communicating with others, even sleeping safely; aspects which are all fraught with difficulty for those with profound mental and physical disability. The Elifar Foundation exists to try to make these daily challenges easier. The grants we make cover a wide range of things, from wheelchairs, specialised seating and beds, adapted trikes, to communication aids and sensory toys. We have also funded specialised holidays for children and adults, and paid for much needed treatments and therapies.

Elifar was set up by a family friend, and have helped my cousin Felix, therefore it is a charity i would love to help raise money for. Thank you very much for your support. Next year i'll give the full marathon a go!!!
