Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. 'Team Robson' run the Jane Tomlinson 'Run for All' Leeds 10K for the Second Time - 22nd June 2008 For those of you who don't already know, Kim Robson was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. Since then Kim has endured numerous ops, chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, has taken the drug Herceptin and since November 2007 has taken part in a clinical trial for the new drug Lapatinib with very positive results. Throughout all this Kim has shown a very determined attitude and (as always) a wicked sense of humour. Jane and Mike Tomlinson have been an inspiration to Kim and Simon (Kim's husband ) and the rest of us in 'Team Robson' with their amazing attitude and achievements and we wanted to use the opportunity to raise some money towards one of the charities associated with the Leeds 'Run For All'. Kim chose The Yorkshire Cancer Centre. We use these kind of events as a training incentive and enjoy getting out there jogging round our bit of countryside, trying to keep fit, chatting, putting the world to rights and having a good laugh (generally at each other's expense). Kim has kept running throughout all of her treatment and quite often is the one pushing the rest of us on. Kim's trial drug , Lapatinib is a great example of the benefits of continued research into cancer . Thanks so much for any contribution you feel you can make to The Yorkshire Cancer Centre, which will enable cancer patients in Yorkshire get access to the best treatment , therapies and care available. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Yorkshire Cancer Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Now approaching £1500 and extra money raised offline has yet to be added to our total. That's a fantastic amount and will be a real boost to us tomorrow! Apparently the race itself is to be featured on the Sunday Life programme at 10 am in the morning so you might spot Team Robson amongst the runners wearing our Purple Yorkshire Cancer Centre T Shirts now beautifully customised by Kim - Team Robson is in Gold Letters on the back. Thanks for all the support , messages and of course sponsorship. 22/06/08 We did it! Team Robson ran together all the way round , even managing some jokes and a water fight en route- (Thanks Jackie!) We made it in a very respectable time of 1hour 9 mins and managed to pose for a lot of team photos on the way - thanks Christine. We certainly ran it in style! The amount raised so far for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre definitely got our legs moving. The Organisers from the Centre stopped us before and after for photos and to express their gratitude to us and all our sponsors - So thank you all. The web page remains open for donations for the next few weeks and we have quite a lot of money collected offline - Amount to be confirmed asap. The biggest thank you and well done goes to our Team leader Kim, her determination is unbelievable ,she managed to knock a minute off last year's race time and still had a joke for Sir Ken Morrison at the end! Respect! Update 22/07/2008 Just added in the generous amounts donated offline through All Saints' school staff and parents, work colleagues, friends, relatives and neighbours. What a fantastic amount - thanks so much for it all - the webpage remains open til sept so more donations are still welcome. Thanks to her confident TV, radio and press appearances Kim has helped boost this fundraising effort magnificently - Onwards to the next event Team Robson!
