Thank you very much for visiting our fundraising page. Young at Heart is the support group for families of children being treated at The Birmingham Children's Hospital, Cardiac Unit.
Many babies & children have open heart surgery in the first few days of life. A lot of families do not find out their baby has a heart defect until the baby is taken poorly. They are taken to hospital as an emergency, resulting in parents/carers only having the clothes they are standing in with them. It is often a huge trauma to the family, being many miles away from their home as well as having to deal with the fact that their baby has a heart defect.
Young at Heart offers moral & financial support to families in need. All our volunteers are parents of heart children, dealing with the day to day issues of bringing up a child with a heart condition. Thank you for helping us to help those families that really need support at this very frightening time.
