Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The youth club is a special place for the young people at Mary Hare a sceondary school for the deaf.

The youth club is called Coles Diner and is run as an American Diner, opening twice a week and sometimes weekends. This is where the young people can buy reasonably priced food and enjoy a good atmosphere with their friends. We also have a drop in centre offering advice and someone to chat to if needed. The youth club offers a space for the young people to call their own and to be proud of.

It helps the young people grow and offers them opportunities in life skills by having a place they can enjoy or choose to work in. It helps them gain knowledge and skills in a work place - we have 3 managers, 3 assistant managers, 9 waiter / waitress and 4 security from all year groups aged 12 - 17. The youth club is run as a non profit making buisness: all the money taken goes directly back into the youth club for all the young people at the school to enjoy. So we really do need fundraising events to keep us going and to buy new things.

So this is what we are doing: on the 18th - 20th March 2011 a group of workers, along with myself and fellow care staff Kirsty will be heading to the New Forest to take part in a challenge. The challenge is to fnd as many Geocaches as possible over the weekend whilst covering as much as the New Forest too! Geocaches are GPS hidden treasure boxes we are aiming to find at least 50 and to cover around 20 miles! There will be 8 of us in total. We are aiming to raise at least £500 but wouldlove to smash the target and raise more!

If you would like to know more about the youth club please visit www.colesdiner.co.uk you can read more details and see some great photos of what goes on!
