Hi all, thanks for visiting my page!
I’m running the London Marathon on 22 April 2012 and have decided to raise money for Afghanaid – a great charity that does fantastic work alongside Afghan communities in some of Afghanistan’s poorest rural areas. This is the first time I’ll be doing anything like this (especially now that I’m back on my feet again!)....no 5k runs or half marathons....straight in the deep end with the full marathon!!
Now, why Afghanaid? Well, their vision is of a peaceful and secure Afghanistan, where Afghans exercise their rights to political freedom and economic opportunity. Since the 1990’s (although they’ve been around much longer!) they have concentrated on community development in some of the poorest and most remote parts of Afghanistan, rebuilding their lives and working to secure their future and so, I want to be able to help contribute (in some way!) to achieving this.
Please, please, please donate! Just £5 provides seeds and tools necessary for people to create their own kitchen garden (so that they can eat!), £10 can buy 60 children’s literacy books and £25 provides the start up training for 10 basic veterinary workers!!
I’ll keep you up to date with how the training goes and hopefully, some of you will come down to cheer me on!
Thanks,
Yasmin
