Story
There is a massive sporting event happening in London this year. That's right, the London Triathlon is taking place at the Excel Centre on Saturday 22nd September! This event coincides with another very important event in 2012 - I turned 40. As they say, life begins, and I thought "let's tick a few things off the list". So here I am, asking for your support to help me swim 1.5km through the murkiest, coldest water in the Excel Dock, East London.
I am not doing this on my own, I have managed to rope some lovely friends Wendy and Faye who are also yummy mummys and are doing the run and cycle respectively. We, all three, have young children and know what it is like for our children to be unwell (not much fun for all concerned!). Fortunately we have not had to experience what other families have to go through with a child with a serious illness or a complex condition. That's why we wanted to raise funds for WellChild the national charity for sick children. We hope that you feel the same way.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So help me splash my way through the dock (training going well so far, first open water swim was in a tropical lagoon in the Cook Islands - I'm sure the dock will be similar), and support a great cause. And please give me some of your thoughts - it will help numb the pain at the halfway mark...
Superstars.
