DIVING WITH SHARKS SUNDAY 19TH APRIL @ 1600 HRS

Hi my name is Yvonne and I am 36 years old.  I was born with spina bifida and developed hydrocephalus as a baby.  I had several major operations in the first 6 weeks of my life, I had a shunt inserted at 2 weeks old due to hydrocephalus. I also developed meningitis at a few weeks old.  I Am extremely lucky as i have managed to grow up without having to many  problems relating to the spina bifida . However, 2 years ago I went through neuro surgery to remove my shunt as it had stopped working and had started to break up inside my head and body. Luckily I did not need to have another shunt inserted as the hydrocephalus has cured.

As you can see by my picture I am a very lucky person and I have achieved so many of my dreams including becoming a staff nurse working with people who have  learning disabilities, being able to walk, swim, ski and most importantly being a great mum  to my beautiful daughter Toni who is 12 years old and very healthy.

I am participating in DIVING WITH SHARKS to help raise money for the SSBA and would be grateful if u could make a donation to help people like myself who suffer from spina bifida and their families.  I WILL BE DOING THE DIVE ON SUN 19TH APRIL 2009 @ 1600 HRS
