Story
I'm a student at the University of Warwick and have decided to take on my first official Ironman, a race starting with a 3.8km swim followed by a 180km bike and ending on a 42km run, located on Wales' southwest coast. Since an early age, I have been interested in triathlons and have had aspirations to complete an Ironman, last year completing an 'unofficial' Ironman as I wasn't old enough, but now has come the time to do the real thing!!! Of course it'll be an amazing race and hopefully sunny too...maybe optimistic but I can always hope...but a lot of training and preparation is needed beforehand and therefore leading up to the main event, the Ironman Wales, i'll be doing a few standard duathlon's and triathlon's, along with the Long Course Weekend in Wales, a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42km run across a period of 3 days, providing me with a good grounding for competing in a race of this distance.
It'll also be for an amazing charity called Scope (www.scope.org.uk) that offer expertise and local knowledge, providing free, impartial and expert information, advice and support to disabled people and their families across England and Wales on a variety of topics including cerebral palsy, families and parenting, communication, education, therapies, money and work.
