Story
Yeah, I know what you're thinking, Zainab can't run. So what, I'm allowed to attempt a walk aren't I?. Anyhow, as most of you know, I can't be bothered to walk from my work place to Starbucks, which is within a stone's throw. I hate walking of any sort, and to be fair, because I've had Polio I'm not *that* good at it. (Understatement).
I thought doing the almost impossible for me would be testament to my chosen cause for fund raising. 'Ansar Youth Project'. A charity that design programmes of activities and outings which aim to develop the life skills of young people in 5 key areas: physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual. They are based in North London, and run by a couple of dedicated workers and very committed volunteers, all under the age of 25. Having been a youth worker and now being a Trustee, I've seen its work first hand with youth engagement and also watched it grow over the last 2 years...as have the young persons using the services. AYP has had such a positive impact on their lives, is now looking to expand....and they can do this with relatively minimal cost. That's where I come in, to make you all feel real guilty so you give me your hard-earned dosh.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ANSAR YOUTH PROJECT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I'm not expecting to make that much of a day of it, but because it will take me so bloody long to walk it, I think it will be the best part of the day before the ordeal is over. You're welcome to come join me, to support me, or for your own comical satisfaction - whatever floats your boat.
