Story
On December 15th 2007, I heard the words, "I'm not an oncologist, but..." Two days later it was confirmed my then seven-year-old son had cancer; a non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called Burkitt's Lymphoma, a particularly aggressive form, which had manifested in his throat. It's difficult to know what to write here, and what to leave out! Needless to say, the journey has been a long, often peculiar, and sometimes painful one. But in March this year, after five years in remission, I heard the words, "We can say your son is cured of this cancer." And yes, I cried!! So I'm going to 'run' 100km in Nepal; a cheeky 10km a week later (in HK); and a half marathon a week after that (in HK) in under 28 hours (hopefully!) I'm doing it to mark this momentous occasion in our lives, to recognise the expertise, dedication, and humanity of the staff at the Prince of Wales Children's Cancer Centre, to say THANK YOU to our friends, and family, without whom I would not have made it, to give thanks for Hugo's recovery, and, most importantly, to help find the answer to the biggest question of all: WHY?
So, please....... join me by donating through this page. It could not be easier and is completey secure. With my love, and thanks, Zx
