The Prophet (PBUH) said, “There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Dhul Hijjah”. It was asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” The Prophet (PBUH) replied, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for Jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” [Al-Bukhari]
The First 10 Days are here, and it's the time when some of us make that special journey; Hajj. This is the time when we will be fasting for 10 days, especially on the Day of Arafah. This is the time when Allah (swt) says to His angels, "Look at my slaves, how disheveled and dusty they came to me, I do call you as witnesses upon me that I forgive them (their bad deeds)." [Ahmad]
What is the challenge?
It’s pretty simple. I need to raise either £1,000 in 10 Days. All your hard work will not only be counted as good deeds, allowing you to cover some much needed ground in the Race to Jannah, but it will also help us to restore hope and dignity to over 160 households impacted by the detention of a loved one.
What’s in it for me?
On every day, charity is due on each of our joints. That’s an even greater priority for us in Dhul Hijjah, one of the sacred months, undoubtedly one of the best times of the year to give.
Whilst we strive our best to fast the days, we inevitably fall short, but charity helps to patch up these shortcomings.
You may not have huge sums of money to give, but this challenge provides a golden opportunity for any individual to make a difference - whether you’re blessed with disposable income or otherwise.
What’s more, you’ll be rewarded for whatever your friends donate, without decreasing in their reward in the least.
“Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action.” [Bukhari].
