Story
As many of you are aware, our lovely daughter Sarah was diagnosed with Primary Bone Cancer (Osteosarcoma) on April 2008, aged 11. She went through a terrible 9 months of gruelling treatment, chemotherapy, and a 4 hour operation to remove most of her right tibia, and knee joint, to have it replaced with a titanium prosthesis. During her treatment, she made many friends, including the lovely Rose Allocca, who was 6 years old at the time. Although Sarah won her battle, and is now a happy and healthy 17 year old, our dear Rose was not so lucky, and passed away at her home with her family on 7th December 2010. Her parents and brother Felix were brave beyond words, and have thrown themselves into fundraising for the Bone Cancer Research Trust ever since. I want to put my hours of pounding the pavements to good use and run for a wonderful cause to raise awareness and funds for this terrible and rare form of cancer, as the outcomes for sufferers of this disease has not improved in the last 25 years like other cancers we hear so much about. Those that know me know that running is not my strongest point - I am not built for running, but raising money is what is driving me through, and I would be so happy if you would sponsor me to keep me going through all the long hours of training ahead of me, to remember Rose and all the other brave children who aren't as lucky as Sarah. I am doing the BUPA London 10000 on 25th May, as well as the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 12th October, so wish me luck!
