Story

"In a sea of human beings it is difficult,
at times even impossible, to see the human as being” --  Aysha Taryam

You may remember the 52 mile walk I did last year to raise money for refugees... Well this year I'm taking it to a new level (literally!!!) and have signed myself up for the National Three Peaks Challenge on 23rd September - climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours (including travel time). We will have a designated driver to take us from peak to peak, and will be watching the sunset at the top of Ben Nevis, and the sunrise at the top of Scafell, ending the challenge at Snowdon.

To get an idea, here are some stats I will (hopefully!) be achieving:
- Climbing approx. 3,500m in total
- Walking 26 miles
- Driving 462 miles
- Sleeping 5 hours? If I'm lucky!!

I am doing this to support the Vodafone Foundation’s #ChooseLove campaign with an aim to raise £1 million in 2017, to support refugees. Currently 1 in every 113 people on earth have been forcibly displaced from their home due to conflict or natural disaster. We are facing the largest ever recorded refugee crisis, with numbers of refugees exceeding post WWII levels. 50% of those displaced are children who need both immediate and long terms support.

Money raised will go towards the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (http://www.unhcr.org/uk/); continuing the development of our Instant Network Schools Programme, and to Help Refugees (https://helprefugees.org.uk); Europe’s largest grassroots distributor of aid, who will provide food, shelter, access to information and basic care items for women and children.

Working with the Foundation over this past year has really heightened my awareness of this humanitarian crisis, and shown me how lucky I am just to have a place to call home. There are 65.3 million refugees out there, many of whom don't even have access to the basic necessities.

It’s understandable for people to feel powerless in the face of such an overwhelming global crisis, but every little helps. I am hopefully going to visit one of the refugee camps later this year but for the moment I am playing my part by fundraising, with a target of £2000. Any sponsorship you can give me towards reaching this would be really appreciated, no contribution is too small.

Vodafone will also match every penny I raise meaning your donation will be worth twice as much at no extra cost!

So please Choose LOVE and help make this world a better place for all humans being.

Thank you all in advance for your kind support.
