Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

The Burgess Autistic Trust is committed to improving the quality of life of people of all ages affected by an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). We provide assistance for individuals and families in order to enhance life and unlock potential.

Story

I am pleased to report that I finished the marathon in 5 hours 15 mins. I was really hoping to finish in under 5 hours but I just couldn't have done any more! I am going to blame it on a combination of the heat (it was soooo hot), my broken toe and the long queues for the toilets!

The support from the crowds was amazing and it really made all the difference. My eldest child Regan was my inspiration for running the Marathon and so it was fantastic to see him and my other two children in the crowd waving their "Good Luck Mummy" banners.
I was going quite well up until about 22 miles, then it all got really nasty! At one point I got overtaken by a rhino but I simply couldn't live with that and so I did a little sprint to get back in front!

The Bromley Autistic Trust is a charity which is very close to my heart. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me. My Justgiving site is operational for some time yet, so if you haven't yet sponsored me, there is still time!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bromley Autistic Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
