Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As you may know, I'm going to Everest Base Camp in April 2009 to help raise £250,000.00 for charities with a group of people from http://www.theeveresttest.com who are 2 cricket teams attempting to play cricket at base camp 5000+ metres above sea level. It's going to be A Guinness World Record for the Highest Team Sport. No other plateau is higher. Half of that £250k is going to Lord's Taverners which is a UK charity with a nationwide concern for under privileged children with disabilities and half is going to the Himalayan Trust UK.

I'm there to take photographs and as support crew. It's not going to be easy. A 12 day trek up to base camp, altitude sickness, the physical effort. Anyone who knows me knows that this is going to be difficult for me. I must be slightly mad but it's possibly going to be one of the greatest physical challenges that I've ever done.

The charity that I'm raising money for as a support crew (or 'trektator' as we are called!) is The Himalayan Trust UK which is a volunteer charity - they have hardly any overheads - which helps the Sherpa community in the Himalayan region build basic infrastructure for schooling, health centres and reforestation. After years of trekkers and mountaineers going up to Everest, it taken it's toll on the countryside. This charity puts it all back through training teachers and forest rangers, replanting skills, sending medical advisors and rebuilding roads, bridges and temples for the community and with the community. Because the charity have no overheads, all the money they raise goes straight to the community in Nepal for education, health, welfare and the environment.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Himalayan Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for reading this far. It would mean so much if you could sponsor me now.

Many thanks and much love,
Jamie Zubairi
