Story
I have decide to do a 'pair' of fundraising events for the Breast Cancer Charity Walk the Walk as several friends and a family member have been effected by Breast Cancer.
Breast Cancer is now the most common type of Cancer in women in the UK. More than 100 women a day will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and one in nine women will be diagnosed in her lifetime in the UK.
Walk the Walk came into being 10 years ago when just 10 women power walked The New York Marathon in their bras to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. What started out as a once only fundraising event has blossomed into a thriving charity raising to date in excess of £35 million for Breast Cancer Research and Cancer Care.
The 'pair' of events I'm planning are the Shakespeare Marathon on Sunday 27th April and the Sun Walk in Bristol on Sunday 6th July. As some of you will already know I run regurarly and this will be my second Marathon and I have already run a dozen Half Marathons. You might think that walking 13.1 miles will therefore be a piece of cake! I have been told though that walking uses different muscles to running and I will need to do several training walks for the Half too, so it's still a challenge for me!
Shakespeare Maraton completed in 4 hours 30mins, taking 28 mins off my previous personal best and the Sunwalk completed in 3hrs 5mins, much harder walking a half than running a marathon!!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Walk The Walk Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
