About Have a Heart

http://www.heartwilts.co.uk/Article.asp?id=1397325

As your local radio station, we are very pleased to announce that we are launching a brand new charity called Have a Heart.

For the first year Have a Heart will focus on building a better future for the children living in our communities, those who are vulnerable, face adversity, suffer from illness or are deprived of the childhood that every child deserves.

Have a Heart will specialise in funding local grass roots projects, raising funds in your communities, through your local Heart radio station – making a difference together to make life better for our children.

All the money raised in Wiltshire will stay locally and help support local causes.

How is the money raised?

Throughout the year, Have a Heart will do lots of fundraising, including our on-air appeals, running events, overseas challenges and a series of locally run events.  We rely on the help of our listeners to get involved in their various local fundraising activities and your imagination to organise innovative fundraisers to help the great work in our local communities.

How we decide where the money goes?

Each year, we will work with our panel, consisting of local experts, to assess the hundreds of applications for funding received by Have a Heart and to decide where the money should go.  Have a Heart will allocate grants to registered charities or voluntary and community groups that aim to make a positive difference. Grants will be targeted to the areas of greatest need, and money will be allocated geographically to ensure that all receive a balanced share of the money raised.

Although we have not had a charity in Wiltshire previously, we have operated other charities around the UK.
