Story
Ward 24 at BHH is a respiratory unit with 43 inpatient beds. We are raising funds for the ward and the non invasive ventilation service that we currently run. The service that we offer is extending for adults with neuro muscular disease and we require equipment for both them and their families to support their stay in hospital. This is a new inpatient service which we aim to expand into a regional centre of excellence. Due to the complexity of the NIV patient group they may have numerous or extended admissions and we would endeavour to make their experience as comfortable as possible. We hope to raise funds to provide specialist patient equipment and improved relative and carer faciliites.
11 of us are participating in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run 2012 on October 21st 2012. For some of us this is our first and maybe last attempt at running!
The team members are a mix of nurses from Ward 24, Engineers from the Royal Air Force, Land Rover and a sports journalist, all of whom are giving up their time to train and run the 13.1 miles to support this cause.
