At Target Ovarian Cancer, we target what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives. Stand together. Save lives.

Story

My best friend Elaine bravely fought Ovarian Cancer for eight years. This pilgrimage is in her memory. To track my progress please see https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lynns-1000000-steps-for-Target-Ovarian-Cancer-and-Autism-Wessex

Leaving the UK on 10 April, I will walk the one million steps, approx 500 miles, from St. Jean Pied de Port in Southern France over the Pyrenees Mountains into Northern Spain, to Finisterre, and the resting place of St James in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia (Spain). Here I will light a candle for all those affected by Cancer.  This pilgrimage is known as Camino de Santiago or 'Way of St James'.

To complete this trek in 30 to 40 days, subject to bearable blisters, healthy feet and decent weather, I will need to walk 20 to 30 kilometres per day carrying a full rucksack. A pedometer will count my steps. Please note, if I get an injury I intend to simply get it fixed and carry on with the walk.

I am a member of Soroptimist International Poole branch. Target Ovarian Cancer is a charity that Soroptimist International actively supports.
