Benjamin Feist and Daniel Hicks have set themselves the challenge of walking the 110km distance between Eastbourne (Sussex) and Staines (Surrey) and 'roughing it' both nights for a super children's charity!
The ‘Home to Home 110km Charity Walk Challenge’ in aid of Shooting Star CHASE hospice care for children and teenagers will begin on Friday 19th August 2011 and will take three days to complete. We will be roughing it and sleeping in a tent when not walking! So not too pleasant. The walk will be starting at the Pier in Eastbourne, East Sussex and finishing at Garrick Close in Staines, Surrey. The one hundred and ten kilometre route, equivalent to over two and a half marathons, will take place over the course of three (long, hard) days and two nights sleeping rough.
Shooting Star CHASE hospice care for children and teenagers is a children's charity which supports life-limited children and their families in West London, Surrey and Sussex (- all area's we'll be walking through) through their two hospices (based near Guildford in Surrey and Hampton in London) and through their community care teams, which provides the care within the child's own home. For more information visit www.shootingstarchase.org.uk or see left for the charity's page.
How our fundraising will help: £10 will pay for meals for a day for a child staying at Christopher's Hospice. £75 will pay for a Nurse for a day. £220 funds a visit by a Community Care Team member. £425 funds an overnight stay at Christopher's! £1110 cover the cost of looking after a family for one month. We aim to raise enough to cover the cover of an overnight stay for a child or even to provide care for a month to an entire family!
Many thanks from both of us :D and on behalf of all the children you'll help support with your sponsor!
