Story
This year, Charley will be fortunate enough to spend Christmas with the communities of KISS in Uganda, sharing the joy and love of the Christmas period with families who have come to be very important to us.
We know that KISS is important to a lot of people, however, and has a magical way of bringing communities together. Anyone who knows us also probably knows how excited we get in the lead up to Christmas (excluding being under-qualified to be Lapland Elves).
Therefore, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring two of our favourite things together to create … KISSmas!
Over the first 12 days of December, we will be making KISS a part of our Christmas festivities and we would love to share the plans with anyone else who would wish to join in or make a donation.
1st - A Bauble in a Christmas tree
To kick off the festivities, buy a KISS bauble online to decorate your tree this year, available at: http://kiddiessupportscheme.org/shop/
2nd - 2 Cards, with love
Buy 2 or more packs of KISS Christmas cards, which were designed by one of the young people supported by KISS in Uganda, online at: http://kiddiessupportscheme.org/shop/
Use 1 for your family and friends and 1 to share with families in Uganda.
If you write a general Christmas message, Charley will be happy to take these to Uganda and make sure they’re delivered by the 25th!
3rd - 3 Gifts for friends
Choose one of KISS' sponsor gifts available online for three of your family/friends' Christmas gifts this year:
(Link will follow)
4th - 4 Cooking birds
Organise and host a Christmas dinner (or 4!) for your friends or family. Ask each person for a donation to KISS - it doesn't matter how big or small. You could also plan additional games/festive quizzes on the night that raises money if you wish!
5th - 5 Carol sings
Get together with some friends/family or volunteer to play/sing as part of the group of JHN students who carol sing at Sainsbury's over Christmas (this is still to be confirmed, an update will follow).
If you'd rather (and the carolling is confirmed), you can also donate in advance to the JHN group if you won't be visiting Sainsbury's this Christmas.
(Feel free to donate here and we will make sure the money gets to the bands' buckets!)
6th - 6 Fleece a slaying
Organise a Christmas jumper day at your place of work/school/University/team club. Each person can donate £2 to KISS.
7th - 7 Scrooge a' screening
Host a Christmas film night for friends or family and whoever watches can donate to KISS!
For extra fun, you could put 5 Christmas films in a hat. Do a lucky dip and whichever film you pick out, pay 20p every time they say 'Christmas' in the film.
8th - 8 Mates a drinking
Have some Christmas drinks out with your friends, or go for a hot chocolate. Whatever your festive drink of choice, for every drink you buy, donate £1 to KISS.
9th - 9 Ladies wrapping
Offer to wrap a friend/colleague or family members gifts for them in return for a £5/£10 donation to KISS.
10th - 10 Kids a' keeping
Pay to sponsor a KISS child for someone's Christmas gift this year. You can do so online here:
http://kiddiessupportscheme.org/sponsor-a-child-2/
11th - 11 Treats a' piping
Bake some Christmas themed cakes / biscuits / gingerbread houses and sell them at work/school/Uni/team club.
12th - 12 Runners running
With a group of friends or family, run or walk 5km together, which is the same distance it takes Christine, a child supported by KISS, to walk to school from her village every day. Each person could ask their colleagues or friends to sponsor them and donate to KISS.
If you would like to get involved, please feel free to do any or as many activities as you can!
If you are unable to participate but would like to make a donation to KISS, we would certainly appreciate any support that you can give. Thank you very much and Merry KISSmas!
