We daily see how being around horses enriches the lives of children and adults with disabilities or learning difficulties. We offer activities that can help improve confidence, skills and self-esteem, set within a supportive and friendly environment.

Story

Help raise money for vital training equipment

We are a group of teenagers, who work, ride and volunteer at Park Lane Stables RDA (Riding for the Disabled). We have been given the opportunity to take part in the Pony Racing Authority Scheme, but we need the right equipment to succeed and break in to the world of racing.

About us

We're not what you might expect from kids who are in to horse racing. We don't come from traditional horse backgrounds and several of us are neurodivergent, which comes with its own challenges in our daily lives! Thanks to Park Lane Stables RDA and its inclusive ethos we are here and able to compete, and if Park Lane has taught us anything, it's that you must follow your dreams, so we are doing just that.

Why are we fundraising?

As Park Lane Stables RDA is a charity, we’re not in the enviable position as other yards who may have more funds and equipment to hand. But this does not stop us, so we decided to raise the funds ourselves!

What we need

Pony racing is a very physically demanding sport, which involves months of intense training most of which is done on something called an equine race simulator.

We rely on being loaned equine race simulators, and unfortunately one of simulators we used had to be returned, so as a group we decided to fundraise for our very own Racewood Electric Race Simulator which will be owned fully by the charity Park Lane Stables RDA, charity No.1161306

For the future

We’re not just doing this for us either, we’re raising funds so that those who come after us have the training equipment to succeed and build a future and career in the equine world. If we succeed in raising the funds, we will have made a big step towards making the sport we love more accessible to young people.

What happens if you don't raise all the funds?

If we don't manage to raise enough funds to buy an electric race simulator, we will purchase a non-electric simulator, with any remaining funds going to Park Lane Stables RDA and our racing endeavours.

Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to us.

Matti, Addie, Sophie, Louis, Yohannes, Claudia, Amelia and Eliza.
