1K Tour is back! 

Following an epic adventure in 2018 where we raised a fantastic amount for Meningitis Now, this year we are off to Wales to see just how far a sub £1k 4x4 will get you . . . 

This tour has been planned for a few months, but clearly I needed to find a way to be centre of attention, so in August I managed to find a lump in my left testicle and within a fortnight I was no longer in possession of said testicle as it had been removed via a Radical Orchidectomy (removal of the testicle and related paraphernalia in layman's terms). 

I have since found out that it was a stage one Seminoma and that I'm lucky enough to have caught it early and therefore won't need additional Chemotherapy or treatment at this stage. I'm sore as hell and will need plenty more tests and monitoring, but I'm incredibly lucky. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have gone to the GP the day after finding it. 

The NHS have been absolutely fantastic and I am hugely grateful to everyone I have seen. The initial booklet I was given on being told the 'you have cancer' line nobody wants to hear, tucked inside a Macmillan Cancer Support pack was by Orchid Cancer. I have pored over it in the last few weeks and they have been tremendously helpful to me already. 

I was very fortunate to have found the lump early and perhaps more importantly acted quickly upon it. We are raising money for Orchid as I want to do everything I can to stop men being embarrassed or self conscious about going to the GP's with a lump. 

With a group of guys that are barely capable of walking up a muddy hill, we will be attempting to purchase a 4x4 for sub £1000, drive to Wales and then set about trying to go off road in a number of challenges. As is always the case with the 1K Tour - all vehicles, accommodation and expenses will be covered by the participants. EVERY penny raised will go directly to Orchid Cancer to help them both educate and assist men who have been diagnosed with Testicular, Prostate or Penile cancers.
