We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

I was so excited to be told that I had gained a place to run in the London Marathon in 2016 for Breast Cancer Now; a charity very close to mine and my family's hearts.

I am doing this marathon in memory of my mum, Claire, who lost her battle with Breast Cancer in September 2004.

The strength, courage and bravery that my mum showed throughout her treatment was such an inspiration and is something that lives on in me today. I am taking on the challenge of running the 26.2 miles to, in some way, help towards preventing the suffering that is still being caused by this awful disease.  They say that by 2050, breast cancer will have taken its last life and if by running this marathon - we are just one step closer to that becoming true then this will have been worth all of the pain!

I am hoping to raise as much money as I can not only for my mum, but also for everyone else who has ever lost a mum, a sister, a daughter or a friend to this horrible disease. For all the brave women (and men) who are fighting against breast cancer right now, and crucially - so that we can fund research that will eventually find a cure, preventing anyone having to go through what my mum did. Any donation is so gratefully appreciated, it all helps.
