Story
In October 2013, our friend and much-missed former colleague, Ben Hinchliff, died at the tragically early age of 46. Ben practised as a barrister at One Brick Court for the best part of a decade, before finally returning home to his beloved Yorkshire in 2002.
The Service of Thanksgiving for Ben's life at St John's, Penistone, was memorably attended by hundreds of people, including from among his former friends and colleagues 'down South'. Unfortunately, many who wished to attend were unable to make the journey up to Yorkshire at short notice. So we have set up this page as an additional way for Ben's former friends and colleagues in the Law to pay tribute to his memory.
At the suggestion of Richard Hartley QC (to whom Ben was particularly close), donations will go to the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, a charity set up to equip young people to look after their mental well-being and to foster awareness of the signs of depression.
To reassure you, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe, and will not be sold on or result in unwanted emails. If you wish, your donation can be made anonymously. Once you donate, the money will be sent directly to the charity – saving time and cutting costs. Finally, and importantly, it allows the charity (and higher-rate taxpayers) to benefit from Gift Aid.
