Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As many of you would know, we lost our beautiful dad to cancer back in 2016. As the 26th of September ticks over it will be the 5 year anniversary.
He battled multiple myeloma for almost 10 years, jumping on every trial drug put in front of him, taking on any natural remedy that he could get his hands on, but unfortunately the universe had other plans ✨
So to mark the 5 year anniversary of the big man + his 58th birthday towards the end of October, Jade and I are going to push the body and the mind and run 100kms each in the month of October. I will also be doing sober October to ensure I stay on track.
The charity we have chosen to partner with is Myeloma Australia. A non-for-profit providing support for the ones fighting the battle, support groups for family & friends, the myeloma nurses on call and of course raising awareness & research for this disease that we know very little about. Myeloma is rare, it accounts for 15% of blood cancers and 1% of cancers generally. Of the approximately 1,800 Australians who are diagnosed with myeloma each year, almost all are older than 40 years of age and men are affected more often than women.
There is no cure, there is no research to indicate what triggers it, all we know is that it takes thousands of lives every year, leaving loved ones with more questions than answers.
We don’t have a target goal, we’re honestly just happy to raise any funds whether it be big or small, for a charity that genuinely needs our support.
If you’re not in the position to donate, that’s fine! We just ask that you have a beer for dad on his birthday (26th October) and keep the great mans spirit alive! He was such a legend and we all miss him so much. This ones for you dad ❤️
Thank you all!
