Story
An accident in Doncaster, whilst training on the 13th December 2017, left 20-year-old Todd Kellett in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Doncaster Hospital. The hospital confirmed that Todd had broken 6 vertebrae’s in his back and this would put a hold on his Professional Motocross Career.
Todd, his girlfriend and his father stayed in the hospital, hundreds of miles from home but returned home in a full neck and back brace in time for Christmas. Todd’s breaks are fortunately stable, however going to take a long time to heal and for him to make a full recovery and therefore will put him out of the start of the 2018 motocross season. Todd has recently signed for Verde Substance KTM who are continuing to support him through his journey to being back on a bike.
Todd and his family are very thankful for the support of the air ambulance and the response they gave at the scene. Therefore, Todd and his girlfriend Lucy will be cycling from hometown to hometown and back in 48 hours (200 miles). Todd has been given the all clear to cycle gently and in his own time can build the mileage up as part of his rehabilitation.
We have been made aware of the importance behind the air ambulance, and the fact that you really don’t know when you may need it! For the helicopter to arrive at the scene and collect Todd cost approximately £3000, so we would like to do all we can to pay this back to the charity. So please, any donations however big or small will be massively appreciated.
The sponsored cycle will take place in the foreseeable future once further recovery has taken place and Todd has seen the spinal specialist in a few weeks. A date will be finalised when he is recovered and fit to complete the cycle. Light training will begin shortly.
A blog will be kept updated at https://kellett200mile48hours.wordpress.com
Keeping anyone who would like to follow them and for those who want to keep informed on their training and Todd's recovery.
