Our team is raising money for our chosen charity, Julia's House.
Julia's House is Dorset's only hospice dedicated to children with life-limiting conditions. The majority of the children in their care for are unlikely to live beyond the age of 18.
Julia Perks was a talented and dedicated paediatric nurse who identified the need for facilities and services for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses in the area, and particularly sought to raise awareness of the need for more respite for the families of these children. Following her sad and premature death from cancer in 1997, Julia's family, friends and colleagues took up the mantle and set up the Julia Perks Foundation, now known as Julia's House, the Dorset Children's Hospice.
Receiving less than 10 per cent of our funding from the Government, Julia's House relies on the Dorset community to help raise the remainder of the required income.
Our team will be competing in this year’s Swanage Half Marathon, only with a little difference… We will each be carrying a military bergen weighing 44 lb / 20 Kg. Scott Blagg, Gareth Mitchinson, Adam Archer & Chris Dawkins will be completing the event by running and TABing the 13 mile with our bergens with the aim of completion in less than 3 Hours!!
Swanage Half Marathon has the well deserved reputation of being one of the toughest UK Half Marathons so this is going to be a great challenge.
