24 Peaks Challenge · 11 July 2015
Why are we doing this?
We love a challenge at Advent, and we’re part of a group that has a strong tradition of charitable giving. Last year a team of Advent staff cycled from York Minster to our offices in Minster Court in London in 3 days. They raised over £5,000 for Alzheimer’s Society. This year we’re taking on something even tougher, and with a personal edge.
We’re scaling 24 peaks, each over 2,400ft in the Lake District over 24 hours. The route is more than 30 miles long (though we split it into two days), with 13,000ft of ascent. To put that in perspective, try walking up the stairs at Shard building 3 times before lunch, then doing it again in the afternoon, once in the evening, and repeating the lot the next day. In the rain. It could be quite tough.
Really, why?
Our chosen charity this year is Cancer Research UK and by raising money we’re helping fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. Cancer Research UK also provides the public with important information about cancer.
Every £1 you donate helps, from paying for simple things like glass slides, to new equipment and research centers.
Who’s taking part?
Thank you
We’re not a highly trained athletic team so this is going to be physically and mentally grueling. For many of us, this will be the toughest thing we have ever done, or will ever do, and we’ll need to rely on each other more than ever as we go.
Your donations are for a great cause, and your words of encouragement and support will really help us get there.
Thank you!
