Story

This page is for all the riders taking part in 25 Years 25 Counties, whether they are doing one day or the whole thing. Joining me, Dan Exelby, on the whole ride, are John Lonsdale, John Williams, Neil Speakman and Paul Hirons. Others including Ollie Hill, William Giles, Mo Schick, Alex Hanks, Liv Cole, Sukey Montford, Alex Riddell, Sinead Hanks, Mark & Harry Dowdney, Sumit Bose, Carl Littlechild & Andy James are doing parts of it. Please say who you are sponsoring when you donate. Here is the reason why we are all getting on our bikes and riding for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

My name is Dan Exelby: in the summer of 1986, when I was 14 years old, I was diagnosed with Leukaemia. At the time I was given a 50/50 chance of survival. Thankfully I was one of the lucky ones. Even today, a teenager battling blood cancer has only a 65% chance of surviving.

The summer of 2013 is the 25th anniversary of me being given the all clear from leukaemia, and so I have decided to do something to mark this, to raise awareness that this awful disease can be beaten, as well as raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, a charity my family and I have supported for many years.

I decided to do a charity bike ride, and following an idea from my wife and my sister in law, I and a group of friends will be cycling 25 counties of England in a week – roughly 80 miles a day for seven days – in late June 2013. All of the riders will be raising money through this page, so when you donate, say who you are supporting.

I hope everyone who visits this page will make a donation - and more importantly help spread the word that leukaemia can be beaten.

Many thanks

Dan
