In August this year myself and trusty companion Doug will be embarking on a 1400 mile cycle ride from Somerset to Morocco! We are aiming to ride 80 miles every day for 3 weeks unsupported and will cover the length of both France and Spain. 

I have chosen to support the fantastic Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance on this adventure. Unfortunately, in 2006 my brother Jack was involved in a serious power-kiting accident in which he suffered a fractured spine amongst other injuries. The S&DAA were on the scene within minutes and their excellent volunteer staff set to work giving him the essential emergency aid he required. Almost as soon as they had arrived the helicopter was back in the air and on its way to Dorchester County Hospital, where Jack could be monitored and receive further treatment. He has since made a full recovery and we are all so thankful for the work of the S&DAA on that day.

The S&DAA does not receive any support from the Government and relies completely on the generosity of the general public. With operational costs of £1.7 million a year equating to over £2,500 per mission the charity requires a large amount of money and supporting this challenge is a great way of helping to keep the S&DAA flying and saving lives.
