Running 300 Miles in 1 Year · 1 October 2015
Ok people so I haven't posted for a while and have been struggling to get out to run due to health issues etc but I'm back on the running scene. So far over the last 3 weeks I have managed to knock 15 miles off my total making that 230 miles left to do. I have pledged to run 5k every day this week, I managed 5k yesterday and looking forward to another run today. In a little over 3 weeks I will be taking part in my biggest race to date and my biggest challenge yet the Great North Run. It will be a tough race but one I will face with passion pride and determination. I will be doing the Great North run with my cousin Daniel in mind who lost his battle with cancer and my friends little boy Ryan who inspired me to running in mind. If they can fight what they have and smile then I can run 13.1 mile xxxx There is still plenty of time to make your donations no matter how big or small. My just giving page is https://www.justgiving.com/300mile1year/ Or text SELI52 + £ to 70070

In March 2014 I decided it was time to make a change to my life and joined Slimming World. And Change my life is what I have done.
As a sufferer of several debilitating illnesses including ME, Fibromyalgia, Scoliosis & Hyperobility I struggled to get about and found general day to day tasks hard. It didn't help that I was carrying a lot of excess weight.
Bootcamp
In June 2014 after losing 1&1/2 Stone I was really starting to feel much better and decided it was time to include some fitness. After a lot of thought I decided to get in touch with James Porter at http://www.getactivefitnesscoaching.co.uk/ who gave me the confidence to go along and try his bootcamp sessions.
On my first ever session I was so nervous has i had never ran a day in my life. I attempted the run 1 minute walk 1 minute session and only managed to do 7 sets. But Loved it and that was the start of my new passion.
Race For Life July 2014
After 3 Weeks at bootcamp I decided to attempt something that had only ever been a dream. To 'Run' the Race For Life. In my amazment not only did I manage the 5k Run but I did it in a fantastic time of 37.5mins. That was it. The bug, the buzz the need for more. I was no longer the overweight poorly woman but a healthy mum who could run.
Barnsley Harriers.
In August I decided it was time to increase my training and joined a local running club http://www.barnsleyharriers.org.uk/. I joined the walk to run group with Anita and that gave me the belief and and confidence to take it further and thats what brought me to where I am today. Its also helped lose another stone in weight taking me to 2&1/2 Stone loss.
WHY CLIC SARGENT.
A family friends son is currently battling cancer for the 2nd time at only 13 years old. This little man is such an inspiration and always smiling that I felt I needed to do something for him. After talking to his mum she agreed to let me run for Ryan and that is what I am doing. KEEP FIGHTING DUDE I'M RIGHT WITH YOU MATE. TOGETHER WE WILL BEAT THIS HORRIBLE DISEASE.
Also my great-cousin Daniel who is currently in remission, and in memory of an amazing little boy McKenzie.
