What?

From August 15th 2015 onwards, I aim to run 30 different competitive and fun runs within 12 months to celebrate turning 30. The runs I have already completed are listed below.

I will also be running the LONDON MARATHON 2016 on April 24th.

As a relatively unathletic person myself I want to show people how easy it can be to get up from the sofa and go out and do some running - by doing this your risk of developing Type-2 diabetes is reduced.

Why?
Approximately 4 million people in the UK have been diagnosed with diabetes and two of those are close family members, who were diagnosed with type-1 diabetes in their teenage years and are insulin-dependent. Many people are not aware of how sufferers manage their diabetes. Through the campaign, I'd like to raise awareness and understanding of type-1 diabetes and how people live with it.

Type-2 diabetes is fast becoming a problem in UK (and worldwide society). Currently, 11.5 million people in the UK are at high risk of developing type-2 diabetes and over 80% of these are preventable. One main contributing factor for type-2 diabetes is obesity. There are small steps we can take to increase our activity and reduce our risk.

I am not an overly sporty or athletic person. By challenging myself to run 30 runs over 12 months, I hope to show that it is not as impossible as people might think to get off the couch and include some exercise in their busy modern lifestyle.

How?
Throughout the course of the next 12 months, I will run 30 different runs. Most will be 10k, some will be half-marathons, some will be fun-run 5ks and in the middle of the campaign, I will run my first marathon - the London Marathon 2016..

Anyone who donates over £50 will be able to nominate a costume for me to wear on a particular run.
