We offer support, information and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm attempting to walk 350 miles solo through the Scottish Highlands, finishing at Cape Wrath, the north western tip of Scotland. On my back I will be carrying my accommodation, my bed, my kitchen, and 4-5 days of food at a time. As I'm leaving in mid-February, the weather is going to be cold, wet and windy, and the days will be short. This will increase the mental and physical challenge as I will be spending most nights wild camping. I will be picking up food parcels on the way, surviving mostly on granola bars, chocolate, peanuts and raisins, and dehydrated meals.

I've chosen to raise money for Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre who provide support for survivors of sexual violence and work to create change. Gender inequality and sexual violence is prevalent in our society. Despite this, vital services which advocate for and support survivors often have to rely on donations from the public to help support their funding and keep them going.

I've worked with ERCC before as a photographer. The reason I'm fundraising for them now is that I've become increasingly aware of how widespread sexual violence is. My eyes have been opened to how attitudes which normalise it are ingrained within our society. When you realise the enormity of this, you have to do something about it. So please, donate generously - it will help keep me going on my walk, and it will help the hundreds of survivors they support and people they train every year.
