Story

Here's a brief description of the 4 brave competitors....

Baz, 38, born in Poole, works at 3 Group supporting the mighty Nimrod. Aims to complete the marathon in 4hrs despite being the most experienced (oldest!!) member of the team. 5 training sessions a week.

Alex, 25, born in Edinburgh. Used to fly Hawks with Truffle before realising that you could do an awful lot more adventurous training as a holding officer! Aiming to get round in 4 hrs!

Gordy, 23, tight Scotsman, auch aye!! Holding for an eternity with 3 group before hopefully following his boss into the cockpit of a nimrod. 4hr target to prove he's not a fat, knackered multi engine pilot!! 5 (2!) training sessions a week.

Truff, 28, born in Barton Under Needwood. Used to fly hawks before realising that multi engine pilots get to eat lots and lie on beaches!! Aims to get round in 5 hours....wearing nothing apparently!! 30 pints a week. The 4 of us work together at 3 Group and have decided to get our running shoes on to raise some money for Leonard Cheshire!! ************************************************************************ Now for the Educational bit..... Group Captain Leonard Cheshire, later Lord Cheshire, was one of Britain's most highly decorated airmen of the Second World War. After the war, he learned that one of his fellow servicemen was terminally ill. Cheshire resolved to help, taking the man into his care. Before long, others with terminal illness and impairments began arriving at Cheshire's home. In 1951 a second "Cheshire Home" was established. More homes and other support services followed - at first in Britain, then in India and Africa, and eventually around the world, including the USA. Today Leonard Cheshire support nearly 400 programs for people with disabilities in more than 50 countries. Programs offered include vocational services, independent living, home-based supports, respite care and residential services. In all, the organization helps over 27,000 people of all ages and types of need. ************************************************************************ Please be generous and help us support this extremely worthy cause. We're aiming for £5,000 which will only be possible with your help!! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leonard Cheshire will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
