Story
On October 13th 2014, Alex Jaspaul, Harry
Johnston and Ricky Stanton will be undertaking their own version of the Three
Peaks Challenge as part of a project to make a groundbreaking short film; get
some exercise; and most importantly, raise some money for a good cause.
Many of you may know that some time ago, Alex’s dad became unwell as a result of oral cancer, and after a 3 year battle, sadly passed away earlier this year. Those of you who knew him will know a great loss was strongly felt by family and friends.
Towards the end he was cared for by his family and the excellent staff at the Pembridge Palliative Care Centre, who provide support and comfort to so many patients and their families in similar situations. The work done is obviously priceless, and is carried out by hospice staff and palliative care services across the country.
With this in mind, when the boys decided to spend a week in October on the road exploring the country, they felt it needed a purpose. Having been affected by recent events, they decided to turn their road trip into an opportunity to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support, by pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and tackling the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.
Purists among you will know that the 3 peaks challenge is typically attempted over 24 hours, which comprises hiking the 3 peaks: Snowdon; Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike, and at least 10 hours driving in between. Ricky, Alex, and Harry are not purists. They are inexperienced optimists without any prior preparation. With that in mind, they’ll be taking a more leisurely pace doing one peak per day over 3 days. They are also massive narcissists, who will be filming their efforts in an attempt to make a short documentary which will no doubt become a Youtube sensation leading to super-stardom.
Any and all donations made will go straight to Macmillan, please do not forget to add gift aid where appropriate.
Thank you in advance for your contribution towards this extremely worthy cause.
