Story

We've all been there,

An afternoon at the pub with friends, lubricated by a drink or two, suddenly a number of hilarious and unfeasible ideas are being thrown around the table.

Most of them don't stick; they are forgotten after a few more beers, replaced by another ridiculous plan, or simply washed away by the following mornings' headache. It's all just fun and games really.

But on one incredibly mild Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon, sat at The Ship in Wandsworth, 3 men found they'd had enough of fun and games. I don't remember how the conversation went, but the emails we received the next day which confirmed the task ahead.

9:34 am Stroke Association RE: LDN Marathon 4-legged World Record

10:51am Guinness World Records RE: Thank you for your application!

There it was, the three of us will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 and in the process attempting a new Guinness World Record. Pub dreams do come true.

It was the email from The Stroke Association which sealed the deal. All of our families have been adversely affected by strokes over the years, most recently with the death of Charles' Grandfather Roy Last summer.

It seemed right. This would be a great opportunity to make a contribution to the Charity which researches treatments, raises awareness for prevention and which supported our family members through the tough, and often final, chapters in their life.

A stroke is an attack, it happens when the blood supply to the left part of your brain is cut off, affecting the right hand side of your body. There are many ways in which a person can be affected by a stroke, usually involving partial or total paralysis, and problems with speech. A lot of the time people who aren't given the correct support after a stroke will never fully recover from something like this.

You can find more info here: www.stroke.org.uk

Now, we're not expecting every single person reading this page to fully buy into The Stroke Association like we have.

Maybe you've never heard of a stroke or maybe you don’t think it will effect you, fair enough!

But whether you ARE supporting the Stroke Association, OR you're supporting 3 weird blokes from London trying to break new World Record in one of the most entertaining yet uncomfortable ways imaginable, your money is going to a great cause!

Let the chafing begin...
