Three Peaks Challenge · 15 June 2018

War Child is striving for a world in which no child's life is torn apart by war. We protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones across the world. Your support today will help us reach even more children in need.

Story

Please help support us as we prepare for the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

We will walk a total of 23 miles (37km) - total ascent: 3064 metres (10,052ft) and driving distance: 462 miles.

We are completing the Three Peaks Challenge alongside our chosen charity War Child, which was founded in 1993 during the Bosnian conflict and works with children in war zones.

The situation for children affected by conflict has sadly worsened over the years. Recent reports have declared that the number of children living in a conflict-affected area is 350 million - that is 1 in 6 children worldwide. Children affected by conflict are often subjected to unimaginable suffering – the breakdown of life, as they knew it, can lead to atrocities such as abduction, torture, recruitment into armed groups as soldiers or often as sex slaves.

War Child aims to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children affected by conflict, providing them with safe, friendly spaces to learn and grow, to retain some sense of normality in the direst circumstances. They work across Asia, the Middle East and Africa to ensure that children and their families feel supported and able to cope with the trauma and stress brought about by war.

Less than 3% of humanitarian aid is spent on child protection in conflict-affected regions. By making a donation, you will be making a difference to thousands of children whose lives have been turned upside-down by conflict. You’ll help them receive the care and support they need to overcome the traumas they’ve suffered and to transform their futures for the better.

Impact of your donation:

£20 could provide a Back-to-School kit for a former street working child to support them back into education.

£100 could send a child to school for a year so they can continue their
education when conflict breaks out.
