Story

On July 22nd, when the sunrises at 05:10, myself (Adam), Ben, Calum and Jacob will be teeing it up at Parc Golf Club in the hope of completing 72 holes by the time the sun goes down at 21:00. Many view golf as a relaxed, easy-going sport but hitting over 375 balls and walking 12+ miles across a 14 hour period will prove to be a massive challenge.

Despite how bad the 72 hole challenge might sound, it is all happening for a reason. The four of us have all experienced how suicide can not only have an affect on ourselves but our friends and family too. In December 2016 we lost our school friend, Sam Ashe. In January 2017, we lost another school friend and my cousin, Matthew Rowe. And, in October 2017, we lost his brother, Tom Rowe. These three wonderful people could light up a room with their infectious smiles and positive outlooks on life but it highlights how dangerous mental health can be as it often impacts the people you would typically describe as the 'happiest'.

Mental health is an awful, silent disease and suicide is still the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45. The Jacob Abraham Foundation has massively supported my family ever since, so any donations, whether big or small, can make a huge impact on their mission to prevent suicide and support bereaved families. For more information on the unbelievable work they do, visit their website: https://www.jacobsfoundation.org.uk/

NOTE: all donations will go directly to the charity. Additional costs and expenses are to be covered by ourselves.
