Vicky's husband Adam was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer in January 2017. Adam's cancer originated in his spinal cord and caused spinal cord compression meaning he had limited feeling from his hips downwards. The diagnosis alone was extremely scary for them and invited unwanted and negative thoughts for what their future might hold. The cancer has unfortunately spread and become terminal. They were initially told Adam would live a handful of years, although recently this has been significantly reduced.
St. Nicholas Hospice introduced themselves as a service of support: to answer any questions and fears they had and enable them to talk to councillors if necessary. They allow Adam to be independent by organising home visits from nurses and physiotherapists meaning he doesn't have to rely on family members for travel. St Nicholas facilitate everybody's needs, making it as simple as possible and Adam and his family are extremely grateful for all that they do.
St. Nicholas Hospice Care has to raise £11,000 a day to continue to offer emotional and physical support to more than 400 families dealing with long-term and life-threatening illnesses in West Suffolk and Thetford. We are walking alongside Vicky in order to raise money for this incredible cause and help them to continue to offer this support to Adam's family as well as the many others who need them.
