After finishing 'The Big Reunion' Tour with 911 at the end of May I'll be running 5k a day for 50 in a row days to raise money for Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK.

Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK was founded by five parents in 2010. Their only goal is to accelerate treatment for girls and women living with Rett. Since launching they have raised over £1M for ongoing research projects worldwide. They are the only UK based charity exclusively focused on speeding treatment for Rett Syndrome.

Rett Syndrome is  a neurological disorder that affects seemingly healthy little girls, striking around the time of their first birthday and ending their parents’ hopes and dreams for their future.

Rett affects nearly every aspect of these girls’ lives, taking away their ability to walk, talk and use their hands. Many girls have problems with breathing and eating. Many have seizures.

Research has shown that girls with Rett do not have brain damage. They know and understand much more than their bodies allow them to show-but they are locked in, trapped by a body that cannot obey signals from their brain.

Rett Syndrome is most often caused by a spontaneous genetic mutation and can occur in any family at any time. It affects around 1:10,000 live female births. There is real hope. In 2007 Rett was REVERSED in the lab by replacing protein in the faulty MECP2 gene. The answer is out there, it just needs funding.

Please help the search for a cure.

Thank you.
