SVR was established in 1910 to provide accommodation and support for ex-Service men and women of all ages who are homeless, isolated or in need. We have residences in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow. We aim to help as many veterans as possible who are in need for as long as that need is there.

I served for just under 18 years in the British Army and saw service in Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Iraq.  I know from my personal experience that art and woodwork can make a huge difference for veterans who have mental health needs.  The art club and woodwork club that I started at Scottish Veterans Residences in Glasgow is a place where veterans can get together, make art, woodwork, models and pyrography and socialise with others.

The club has been thriving since started 18 months ago with nearly 70 veterans taking part, due to its success we have moved to new premises in Govan and are able to help more veterans in the community.  I set up the club from scratch with the support of SVR and Glasgow City Council, I don't get paid to run the club as it is part of my recovery as well as everyone elses.

We need funds to keep helping veterans learning new skills and getting their lives back.

Any money that you can spare will go towards art supplies, wood and essential equipment to make sure that we can keep helping veterans who have given so much and now need some support.
