We care for sick and premature babies to give every baby the best chance of life

Story

This year I'm running the Great North Run for "Tiny Lives" and in memory of Liam Byers.

Liam was born on the 23rd December 2014 with his twin brother Callum. The twins were born at 27 weeks and 5 days (13 weeks) premature. Callum weighing 1lb 2oz and Liam weighing 13 oz. Despite the best efforts of the doctors Liam unfortunately died a short time after being born,  in the loving arms of his Parents Kayleigh and Ian. Callum fought on and is now a 1 year old little boy who is thriving on life. Without the help and support of Tiny Lives I'm sure life would have been a lot harder at that difficult time for Ian and Kayleigh.

Tiny Lives is a charity that works in the special care baby unit within the RVI. They help care for premature babies, their parents and families. Tiny Lives offers a range of services from general support to bereavement counselling for the families who have sadly lost their babies.  They ensure that each family is given time in a quiet room to say goodbye properly, they also give the families the opportunity to have their baby christened. Each family are given a memory box, these are especially important to bereaved families as they contain the babies, name tag, umbilical cord clip, photographs, teddy, little hat their baby wore to keep them worm, christening certificate, and the blanket their baby was wrapped in and record book. The family can also add their own sentimental things to remember their baby. Tiny Lives also provides accommodation for the families so they can be close at hand while their baby is in hospital. If it were not for this charity I'm sure that families lives would be a lot harder at that difficult time

This is a charity that is close my heart simple for the help and support that they have given to my friends Kayleigh and Ian, Tiny Lives still stays in contact with them to this day

This is a charity that largely survive on the generosity donations, and if it wasn't for them donations Tiny Lives would simply disappear.

All I ask is for is a small donation to allow this charity to continue its fantastic work and be able to continue to help many families in their difficult time.
