Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is my tenth fundraising campaign (we've raised over £35,000 together MA) and it's just as important as ever for me to ensure the money I ask you to donate is fully spent on those in need. As always I've thought about which charity I should support this year and after more research and discussion I have decided to support and work with Hand In Hand For Aid Development again.

In 2019 and 2020 during July, August and September in conjunction with HIHFAD's UK Aid Manager we helped hundreds of ORPHANED CHILDREN (87-90 per month) whose donors had withdrawn support in Aleppo and Idlib in Syria, and Hatey in Turkey. I have been sent all of the donation receipts, photos and annual updates on the orphans and so know our money has been spent on these vulnerable children.

This year, in 2021, I would not only like to support vulnerable children in Syria but also raise money to renovate their destroyed schools so that children can get back into education, and because I know that 100% of the money we raise will go directly towards them. Let's do it again this year and help these innocent souls who have lost their homes, their schools, their parents and everything that was normal for them. I really hope we can smash my target this year.

More information on the proposed school project:

A hidden tragedy of the war is that even now over 2 million school-aged children in Syria are unable to go to school. For those born during the war, the likelihood is they have never attended a day of school in their lives. Can you imagine that?

Thankfully we can do something about this. HIHFAD are passionate about giving children a safe space to learn, play and connect. They are helping children born into war to gain the education, skills and opportunities they need to grow into the adults who will rebuild their country.

Like much of Syria’s infrastructure, schools and educational facilities have suffered catastrophic damage. Many have been destroyed, and others currently serve as makeshift shelters. HIHFAD have:

Supported schools with funding, equipment and supplies

Brought abandoned or damaged school buildings back into use

Funded salaries for staff and provide new jobs

Ran children’s activities, parties and fun days

We will specifically be raising money for children in the following areas and the following 4 schools that need renovating:

#Location, School Name, Registered Students, Available Classes, Girls/Boys

Aleppo - Afrin - Sharran NAZUŞAĞI İLKOKULU 67 69 42

Aleppo - Afrin - Sharran ŞİLTAH İLKOKULU 52 44 33

Aleppo - Afrin - Sharran DİKMEDAŞ İLKOKULU 32 37 34

Aleppo - Afrin - Sharran SARİNCEK İLKOKULU 56 69 3

The estimated costs for the renovation work will be £5000. The renovation work will include plastering the walls, WCs, painting the classes and the entrances in addition to the stairs.
Note: all of these schools are official and registered in the Education Directorate.

If we raise more than £5000 we will renovate all four schools and support the families of children who are struggling. However, if we raise less than £5000, we will renovate 2 schools and spend the rest on children who need the money.

Here is a video of some schools they have already renovated:

Here are the facts about the charity:

1. They are a charity that works from within Syria and employs approximately 550 Syrians who know the region and their people to provide direct and effective support.

"Their teams inside Syria assess, plan, prioritise and implement projects to help the most vulnerable in the community based solely on need. The majority of their staff, trustees and consultants are Syrian. These large, local teams live inside Syria and understand the needs and complex, ever-changing contexts in which they work."

2. They have a 100% donations policy and I have been assured that any admin fee is covered by the volunteers themselves and the Gift Aid they reclaim on donations.

3. The work they do is incredible. From emergency relief, medical aid, building hospitals, setting up schools to community empowerment - they take a holistic view in caring for Syrians.

Syria has been reduced to rubble and millions of people’s lives have been destroyed. It is our duty to make sure that no one is left without food, clean water or shelter. These children's lives were torn apart through no fault of their own. They’ve seen their loved ones killed and have had to leave their beautiful homes with nothing but the clothes on their back. Please join me in making a small difference to these beautiful children's lives.
All my best wishes are with you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me in supporting a great cause once again.

Much love, peace and blessings to you all,
A. M. Dassu
