This Ramadan I've gone with a bit of a different charity to fundraise for. It's called the Free Representation Unit, and it provides FREE legal representation to individuals who need it the most. It is one of the most DIRECT and PRACTICAL ways to help some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Why you should donate:

- The charity provides free legal representation in social security (welfare benefits) and employment tribunals for individuals in London and the South-East of England

- The charity relies solely on donations and subscription fees to operate

- The charity supports young lawyers on making a difference to people's lives

During my time working with this charity, I've seen incredibly sick and vulnerable individuals have their benefits taken away, but I've also seen a FRU representative go into court and fight ferociously for them, and win. I've also seen FRU representatives work on cases where individuals have been grossly mistreated at work, and I've seen these representatives dedicate hours upon hours to ensure the best possible outcome for their clients.

All free of charge.

Throughout this year I've heard countless harrowing stories about homelessness in the UK, mothers being unable to afford food, pensioners living in terrible conditions...these are the people that FRU helps.

Islam places a huge emphasis on adl (justice), and I could not be more proud to be fundraising for a charity which works towards just that. A fair and just society.
