This September I'm volunteering for ten weeks in Muhanga, Rwanda with Tearfund, a Christian relief and developmental agency. I'm taking part in a programme called International Citizen Service (ICS), which is part-funded by the UK government and part-funded by participants' fundraising. 

My fundraising target is £800 and all of this money will go straight to the ICS programme, enabling 7,000 young people from across the UK and overseas to volunteer on projects that help to fight poverty in the developing world. This may involve community work (like raising awareness of HIV and Aids, or teaching in schools), helping out with agricultural and sanitation projects, or even putting up buildings, like toilets! ICS only works with communities that specifically request their help.
